At present, Australia has no legislation which covers the disposal of electronic waste. These items contain toxic materials such as lead, mercury, cadmium, beryllium, PVC, chromium, and arsenic. These can leach out of landfills and damage ecosystems and human health. They also contain valuable materials such as tantalum and indium that are running out.

Computer Care Australia has committed to recycle or safely dispose of any hardware which reaches end of life as a part of your managed hardware agreement. We will also assist you in making decisions about recycling or disposal of equipment which is not covered by your managed hardware agreement, or for which you purchase at the end of your managed hardware agreement.
We are also committed to reducing the overall packaging used as a part of the build and delivery process of computer equipment. Where possible, we recommend vendors which use the minimum amount of packaging in their products.
Databox hardware has been specifically chosen to reduce it's power consumption profile by going fan-less and using solid state storage technologies. Our services division will be happy to assist you in migration and power consumption reduction strategies as well as gather information for any statutory reporting requirements you have.
We can also configure automatic power down, power settings and power on options as a part of your managed service agreement if you need to take advantage of these technologies.
